I’m HEARING quarterback Jason Bean plans on running it back for one more season with the Jayhawks. This will be Bean’s “super senior” sixth and final season in college football.
Bean had previously participated in KU’s Senior Day activities, indicating his time in Lawrence may be over. But the controversial final pass in the Liberty Bowl won’t be the end of the speedy quarterback’s story at KU. His return not only helps the team for next season, but it illustrates just how far the Jayhawks have come.
Bean posted an Instagram alluding to the news on Wednesday afternoon. Friend of The Hearings and #ScoopsMafia member @BryBryStrick first caught the action. I can further confirm Bean plans on playing for Kansas next season. This is the QB’s plan.
It’s amazing that Bean is opting in for an additional year with the Jayhawks. The QB, without question, could go start somewhere else. Decent Group of 5 teams or struggling Power 5 schools would absolutely take him. We’re now in an era where these kinds of quality players WANT to be at Kansas.
At least for now… gone are the days of Montell Cozart transferring to Boise St., or Ryan Willis putting up numbers with Virginia Tech. Instead KU is keeping a backup QB capable of putting up four second-half touchdowns against TCU.
Sure, Bean’s role is flexible. He’s clearly athletic enough to get playing time outside of QB. He may help the Jayhawks this season at WR. He definitely helps by giving depth to a QB position that has been a source of misery for Kansas fans this decade.
Put simply: Kansas can win a lot of football games next season, and Jason Bean gives them a better chance to do just that.

Love it!
