Gotta think MJ has the clearest shot to both 1) return and 2) slip into starting 5 at the 2/3. Having back issues early clearly set him back physically and mentally (pain + always worrying you're going to tweak it) as well as learning the system, so he was never going to compete for serious minutes in rotation with GD/KMC taking up 85% of the minutes at the 2/3. Those minutes/roles opens up. Tons of shots gonna be needed next year.

Would be surprised if BP stays, just not enough offensively/shooting (which was clearly lacking on this team) + incoming guards are bigger/more versatile. JY not good enough to unseat DH and playing 2 mini-guards large minutes together spells disaster.

Totally fair. I hope MJ comes back and gives it a shot. I know those around the team have thought highly of his potential. Not sure what BP does. Injuries really slowed him down.

Any chance we’ll try to get another tough D defender transfer in, a la McCullar?

Yep, I think a long wing who can guard is likely. Have my eyes on a player with local ties to fill the role 👀

Hear me out, Wilson has one more year of eligibility left, if he returns National POY leading candidate, doesn't want to leave with bad taste in his mouth wants another ring, loves Coach Self. A guy can dream can't he? 🤷‍♂️ 😂😂😂

Curious what the Source thinks about potential draft prospects for the guys leaving for the pros, and if they think those players might consider staying (if they have the eligibility) if they don't get favorable projections?

I mean, McCullar and Wilson aren’t improving their draft status by staying another year. They’re both late 1st/early second round picks basically no matter what happens next year so they should just go and start making money either domestically or in Europe. And Dick is a top 10 to 15 pick so, as unready as he seems, he needs to go too. So I agree it would be super cool for him to stay and be the man next year, along with Rice, who has the opportunity to make a huge jump I would think.

Yeah, I think that's about right. Wilson has nothing left to prove. McCullar is ready, too. Multiple NBA guys I've spoken too have praised both Jalen and Kevin.

I know you are talking about which players were leaving/staying, but is there any chance Coach Self decides to hang it up after what just happened with his medical event?

Would love to see MJ stay. The potential is there!
